Greetings! :hello:

This is my first post :bounce: and I wll ask you about a graphics card I would like to buy.

I have an Athlon 64 3800+, Radeon 2600XT, 3GB RAM with a Tagan 430W and it is in my plans to buy a new graphics card so that I can extend the life of my pc for 1 year and play at a higher framerate. What I would like to know is if my PSU will be able to handle the ATI Radeon 5750 1GB.

Can anyone help me please so that I will not waste my money? :sarcastic:

Thanks in advance!

It's printed on the side of the PSU. It should say the wattages and Ampere ratings. Ex. "12V =14A" or "12V1=14A, 12v2=14A", under the 12V rails it usually give a 12v wattage rating. on a 430W it might be 300W or something like that. Those are the numbers we need. How old is this unit? Does the PSU have a 6 pin PCI-E power connector?

In the first half on the right, it says: +3.3V and below it 26A, +5V and below it 30A, +12V and below it 26A. Below the last two ( +12V, 26A) says 312W. Efficiency: 70%-73% (Full Load).

The PSU is 2 years old and has a 6 pin power connector PCIE.

Are you sure that I will have no problem guys? Then I ll have to order it, I think. I was between a Radeon 5750 and a GT 240 1GB DDR5 (because it has very low consumption). What do you think?

26A on a 430W is really good. The fact that it has a 6pin PCI-E connector is also reassuring that the unit was made to handle a video card. I would feel confident in it.

A 5750 would blast a GT240. a GT240 is only slightly better than a 4670.

You are fine ;) , later on if you decide to install more drives or a beefier GPU then you will need to upgrade the PSU...
