My current monitor is a 19" that max resolution is 1440x900.
Basically I'm buying a new computer tomorrow and will be sticking my 5770 in that.
I'm thinking of buying a new 1680x1050 monitor... my new monitor will have better specs (i5 2500k oc'd to 4.5ghz) + xfx 5770.
I also don't like playing games at lower than native resolution unless it's Counter-Strike: Source.
If I got a new monitor e.g. this one: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/22-viewsonic-vx2268wm-3d-120hz-wide-black-silver-lcd-vga-dvi-200001-300cdm2-1680x1050-3ms
How much FPS would drop in games making the jump from 1440x900 to 1680x1050 do you guys estimate? I haven't really found any decent benchmarks unfortunately since most are 1680x1050+.
I was able to run BF3 on all high and got 40fps+ which was more than playable in 1440x900, my CPU was a Q8300 at 2.5ghz so I would imagine that there would be an improvement on the 2500k.
Assuming I got the new monitor and started playing with 1680x1050 how significant would the fps drop me? Considering that i'm getting a new CPU.
Thanks!
