1080p was the highest listed resolution, TV does 1440 up to 2160. Nv control panel says native resolution is 720. I created 1440 and 2160 resolution, although small looked like a 720 being resized cause it looked bad. I changed 1.4 HDMI cable but I don't know about the mini HDMI adapter. Tried dvi to HDMI no luck.

On my other 1440 cat leap 27 inch monitor the resolution just auto appeared as a choice. But this 4k TV is not giving me a choice to select 1440 in the nv control panel. I'm not sure if I have display port or dvi on the 580 but I tried that to no avail.

Have you tried setting the resolution through Windows? I get more options for refresh rates within Windows, than I do in the Nvidia Control panel. Right click desktop and select screen resolution.

The problem here is the Aspect Ratio... I wouldn't exactly know how to fix that though. Well, other than buying a new GPU. If you bought a HD 7950, you'd probably be able to fill out the screen, because AMD cards are capable of that display.

I got mine in this week and haven't been able to get my gtx 580 to give an option to put the TV in 1440p. It says the recommended resolution is 1280x720. I tried a custom reso but it didn't work. I tried new HDMI cables and the dvi port. Tried it on a friends rig with a 560ti sli and same thing. I tried using different HDMI ports too.

As far as blue ray up converting there is minimal improvement with what I assume is auto upscalling to 4k. It took side by side comparison to spot the difference.the TV itself is fair for viewing br and uverse. About as good as my 3 yr old plasma, minimal light bleeding, pretty uniform light distribution. Not as good as the perfect 2013 plasmas obviously.

If I can't figure out the 580 issue gonna be forced into a 780 of titan I guess. I really just wanted to do 1440 gaming on a 50 inch at 30 fps for awhile until the 60hzcome out and then give this to my wife.

Create custom resolution for 3840x2160.
I have a Seiki 39" 4K connected to GTX 580 via HDMI 1,4 cable, and custom 4K resolution works (I got also 2560x1440@60Hz to work).
