580 gtx vs 780 gtx

Hey,

I recently replaced my 580 gtx with a 780 gtx as an upgrade, but I noticed that my 580 was doing same/better than the 780??

I got the latest drivers from nvidia and everything else is the same hardware wise.

Possibly the 780 may be bottle necked by something ? Since you put the new card in an older computer the CPU or Ram may not be up to the data transfer of the new card and could be holding it back. List what you have for components.

Do you also install games in the folder Program Files and NOT Program Files (x86)??

Installing to "program files" folder vs "programs files (x86)" is not something you can just change. "Program files" is 64-bit programs and games. "Program files (x86)" is for 32-bit programs and games. This is governed by the program and windows. You cannot change the program or game from 32-bit to 64-bit by switching the directory.

Did you really really pull this one off? i CANT believe my eyes hahaha.

To stay on topic: try what i said and check if games are installed in Program Files directory as the Program Files (x86) emulated ofcourse 32 bit system which in that case will not be able to use all your ram.

Many before you had similair problems after updating their entire PC and BIOS.

Have you updated your bios? can your psu handle it?

to OP - Check with GPU -Z that the card gets full PCIe 3.0 x16 bandwidth. Also check that the card is firmly seated in its slot.
