[SOLVED] 5800x and new ram or 5900x ram later?

So I’m in the process of a full upgrade because my old rig died on me. I do work in blender mainly doing 3d modeling. Issue is I kinda have to pick one or the other cause I’m on the edge of my budget, but I can’t decide. Either 5800x cpu and get new ram in the process, upgrading from 16gb 3200mhz to 32gb 3600mhz or use the old ram but get more cores to work with in the 5900x and upgrade ram later, can’t decide. Upgrading from a 2600

new locked in system upgrades are:
Mobo: B550 Aorus Master
Cooler: Ek AIO 360 basic
Psu: super flower 850w bronze

Thanks for the schooling bud, either way, gaming you'd still want more than 3000mhz, sure you can get away with 3000mhz, but you leaving around 10% or so of performance on the table for near pennies in games anyway, not a huge price difference from 3000 to 3600 now a days for the performance gains in games, even though it is not his primary task.
You can't really say he's leaving 10%ish of performance on the table in games without knowing what graphics card he has and what resolution he is using. Faster memory isn't going to make his graphics card faster, it will help only if GPU is not limiting, basically in CPU bottleneck situations. Sure he should upgrade 32GB memory kit but getting both 5900X and new kit wasn't an option...

If 16GB is enough for your Blender projects, then upgrading memory shouldn't be on top of the list. Memory speed is not important, you maybe get 1% from 3200->3600, it's not worth of investment. 3200 kits will do same job and cost less. 5900X however is much better in blender, you get 50% more cores and it's easier to cool than 5800X.

The only time I really see my ram almost being topped out is playing certain games like fs2020 or Star Citizen

The 5900x has 24 threads, the 5800x has 16, it don't have 50% more cores, you might be thinking of the 5950X that has 32 threads.

The 5900X should be the best choice for Blender work loads, but the 5800x in gaming will be darn near identical, I'd definitely get the fastest ram that you can afford, it will help with how these New ryzen CPU's infinity fabric works.

I have a rtx 2070 and still using 1080p. im not really trying to squeeze as much fps out of games as possible with this rig as running at 1080p i'd break 60fps with ease in most games with either the 5800x or the 5900x. trying to create a hybrid "workstation" and gaming rig my dilemma is im not sure how much performance boost i'd see upgrading from 16gb 3200mhz to 32gb 3600mhz, i know ryzen likes faster ram though
