You are comparing a R9 to a R7, naturally the multi-core performance of the R9 will be better than the R7, in games that are core heavy the R9 will have an advantage in the R7, but the last gen zen2 the difference between performance in 3800x and 3900x were neck and neck and even my 3600x were able to keep up with the Big brothers, so it's your choice if gonna do heavy lifting then R9 might the right choice, and if you gonna just game 5800x will be the choice. but since they are new ones performance can't predicted much.
