So ive been upgrading my PC the last 2 weeks, sold my 1080ti, sold my 3800x.. got a 6900xt and a 5800x 3D, currently im sitting with 2x8GB G.skill 3600 CL16... i see tons of reviews where duel bank 2x16gb or 4x8GB gives a very noticable performance boost.. but this is all with the non 3D chips.. i dont think ive seen anyone on youtube or otherwise check if the 3D cache 5800x benefits.

So im just curious.. yes or no ? because i noticed it doesnt seem to benefit from fclk overclocking or from high memory overclocking either.

duel rank yes.. you know how 2x8GB is single, and 2x16GB is duel bank/rank whatever... So would 4x8GB which is duel rank.. benefit the 5800x 3d like it seems to drastically do with the non 3D on reviews ive seen,

That's dual channel. Dual rank refers to memory chips on the RAM sticks themselves. I'm not trying to quiz you, just trying to get a handle on what you mean.

In that case, running memory in dual channel still has a great deal of benefit and that is pretty nearly universally the case without fundamental changes to design.

Yes i know the diff between the two been building pcs for 26 years.. i guess i ment duel bank as duel RANK sorry lol.. i just got the name wrong.. Im asking if going to duel rank with 4x8gb will help.. My memory has chips on one side. im asking if going to 4 sticks for duel rank will benefit the 5800x 3d...

Also wondering if the 32gb of ram is something i need, im playing total war warhammer 3 now, with 5 windows open and youtube, and im at only 2.5gb of memory free, and a crap ton of cached memory in pagefile.. so i guess maybe thats a yes ?

But im also debating.. i have crappy HDD's.. 3 SATA drives, one is an old HDD, two are SSD.. and i have one 500gb 970 evo pro... would it be better to get say a 850x wd drive versus the memory.. would i see better gaming load times.. Or no? My 500gb nvme is also running out of space constantly.. i got it like 3 years ago back when nvme was still very expensive hense why its 500gb

16GB is still considered good for gaming and general use.

Ryzen has performed better in the past by only populating two of the four dimm slots.

I'm about to replace my 3800x for the 5800x3d as well. My wife is in need of a new build and the 3800x has been and still is a great cpu.
