580GTX vs 6970

Hey folks, looking to upgrade from my current gpu my 5870 HDMI port is bad and when I use DVI to HDMI I get black screens, tested everything even used my laptop to HDMI to my monitor my LCD is fine it IS the video card. Im looking for a good upgrade from my 5870(only DVI to VGA works) And about to either order from Neww Egg or buy at Microcenter. I know about the upcoming 7xxx ATI and 6xx Nvidia cards NOT interested in new stuff cause I like to wait till bugs,drivers and hardware issues are sorted out. I had bad experience with ATI/AMD over the last 5 years and thinking of jumping ship. NOT a fan of neither but want something reliable, fast and I run my system on a 36" screen monitor so any input from personal experience is great. PLEASE no benchmark stuff, don't care for those and want to hear from personal use of these cards. Thanks in advance and hope to hear back from ya!

I7 2600k
8GB Vengeance
Corsiar H60
Asus EAH 5870 <----going out soon, want to upgrade.
Intel 80GB SSD
300GB WD Raptor
Antec 750watt PSU

Thank you, I am seriously leaning to it. Read many great things about it. Im concerned with the heat though. I have a HAF 932 so it shouldn't be too munch of a deal right?

Heat would not be an issue with that case, the 6970 would not be a big enough step to get a wow factor upgrade.

Yeah, I didn't want to spend $300+ on something and it turns out disappointing. Now is which manufacture??? lol. MSI or Gigabyte....

Unfortunately I am on a slow connection in New Zealand at the moment and am having problem loading newegg pages but the triple slot Asus has been very popular and gotten good reviews.
