i have 5820k with x99ud4 gigabyte and 16G 4x4 2400 Geill evo i have GTX 1070 non oc strix and i have overclock cpu to 4.2 and volt is 1.16 on air cooler H5 ultimate and I see many review say new 8gen i5 8400 have better performance in game special modern game (and its hard to go 4.4 take volt 1.275 and with aida 64 heat rise 90 with game 70-75 ) so I need some one have the both or 8600k or 8500 and have same my cpu is there huge frame like 15-20FPS https://www.techspot.com/review/1558-core-i7-5820k-test-in-2018/page2.html

Assassin's Creed Origins show 5820k min 49 and 8400 min 71 that’s to much I think –so do I have to go with new i5 ?

I'd keep with the i7 - so much better to have 4c/8t than just 4c/4t
Future games need more cores and threads.
Granted the IPC maybe better than yours but it's a worse cpu imo
Don't forget if you want a new CPU you need new mobo/ram as well and if you are going to do that, you may as well get AMD as it's better.

i have 6c/12t and i5 have 6c/6t but most review show 5820k is low fps special in min FPS amd is still low FPS the intel and iam all is do games is any one tray both in real not just review

yes i know that i need z370 or b360 new mb all i just need to know is any one tray both is the fps realy go 15-20 BTW them ? idont care about 5-6fps
That website shows its 5-10 fps, you say 15-20.
I don't have either of your systems, I trust that website, but it's not the be all and end all of it. I don't know what to say, find someone who has exactly same GPU as you have but the CPU you want.
Still, I would have your CPU over the one you want... 6/12 is better than 6/6 no matter what :)
Future Games will use more and more cores!

Seems like a sideways move at best...for very similar CPU performance. You also lose the unlocked multiplier, and the 4.0 GHz turbo is only on a single core.

A TRUE upgrade would be something with higher clockspeed and more cores, such as the i7-9700k. But I'm sure the 5820k will remain a relevant gamer for years still.

Trouble with benchmarks is they only show what fps a cpu is capable of, it doesn't show what the cpu usage is like. Any bet that 8400 is nearing 100% usage (stutter territory) at those frame rates while your cpu is not. There's no peripheral input, not much phsyics/ai going on compared to when you actually play. You'll be sorry if you spent money on an 8400 or any i5 for that matter.

Does this table have the same FPS as you get?
What are your Frames?
idont have 1080ti to compare i have gtx 1070 and the reason thats i ask i have few month ago i7 3770 non k and i play on 60hz and i dont see any improvement and when i see alot of review new modern cpu get alot of FPS and even in old review isee 4790k get more FPS then 5820k i feel it was wrong choic - i get my MB and cpu for good price used about 260$ so i see with same price i can get i5 8400 or 9400F with any z370 thats why i ask any1 try my rig and go to new gen8-9 i5 is it worth or just stay with x99

At this point in time, it would not be worth it to move to a new platform at the i5 range.
Sure the 5820k was not the best option for gaming, but its certainly still powerful enough to handle what you want to do.
An i5 would perform similarly, which would be a waste of money considering you own the 5820k already.

Both 3770 and 5820k can handle 1070 quite easily. At this point the 1070 isn't saturating either CPU's fps cap and is the 1070 not giving you the results you were after.

Put a more powerful GPU in there and you'll see what your 5820k is capable of.

But at 60Hz, there's no real point is there? Unless you upgrade to 144Hz.
