Question 5820K with 2 x 2080 TI, or Upgrade CPU?

Will my current CPU able to use these two cards at their full potential? Or do I need to upgrade? Planning for a 9900K or AMD If I upgrade. I have to get a whole new MB and RAM setup as well and I don't know if I want to do that since I love the Rampage V Extreme. I use the rig mainly for gaming and video editing.

Sli is not really good anymore and I largely consider it a waste. Get a single card unless you want 2 systems. Yes you will get significantly more performance in a few games but I wouldn't do sli. For 4k 60hz a single RTX 2080 ti is enough.

2 x 2080ti? You realize most games don’t support SLI anymore? A 6 core 12 thread cpu should be fine for 1440p and even better for 4K gaming.

Actually I don't, I just assumed the benchmark results I see online means that it'll be better compared to just one. I mainly use the rig to create texture mods for GTA V, which is compatible for SLI, so I should just sell one of the 2080 for a new monitor and keep the same CPU?

well if you already have the 2 cards you can keep them both. but yea most games these days dont like SLI/NVlinked gpu's.

the 2080 ti stretch their legs at 4k. at 1440p and especially 1080p its overkill, meaning at 1080p the 2080 ti will perform the same as if you had a 2060 super in your system with the same cpu.

also a single 2080 ti bottlenecks every processor imagine having 2. so even if you get a 9900k i doubt you would see a significant difference with what you have now and in its current settings.

Yeah you’ll be fine with GTA 5 but newer games aren’t supporting it. It’s kinda up to you how you wanna roll. For the price of the card I’d maybe try to sell one but if you plan to only play GTA 5 for the next 3-5 years then it’s a good investment.

If you've got an extra $1100 for a 2nd 2080Ti, you can afford instead to upgrade from a 3-4 generations old 5820 to a 9900K and a good Z390...
