5850 dropping to 15 fps on almost all games

I have an AMD 5850 with all stock settings, FurMark tests showed min27 fps max 30 at full load for the full 15 mins. I have catalyst control centre set to maximum performance not quality. I've tested my CPU for faults which was fine, my PSU is 1000w corsair. When I use amd overdrive to overclock my card it causes my wireless card to disconnect every 5 minutes. I can't seem to figure out why my FPS is so low in game and why the wireless card drops after overclock. Im trying to play APB reloaded in no way a demanding game and one i have played fine in the past. I have done a full system restore and defrag also have catalyst control centre V13.8 installed.

Just a thought, but are your Windows power settings set on High Performance? I recently read something where someone was having a similar problem and it ended up being the power settings, which were set to

it is currently on balanced, do you think i should change to high performance?

If you do, be sure not to overheat your PC. Maybe for the time's being. But I don't find it that it has a major difference in FPS.

Just tried this game still dropping to 15 fps in the "more intense" areas if you can call them that. It is making gaming impossible on my rig :/ it is especially frustrating being a game which has ran fine for the last year +

I think it just got worse by age or something. I played APB and got crapton of lag and even worse at the "chunky areas". Few years earlier I played some motor cycle game and got no lag, now if I play it know I get a bunch everywhere. I 'm planning on getting a new dedicated card because mine is integrated :/

I LOVE YOU. I created an account just to thank you, sir. I just got a new i3-4130, 5850, 8GB ram and a Gigabyte motherboard cos my old system was outdated and the motherboard went. So I decided to build my own budget gaming computer since I don't run anything particularly high(World of Tanks/Warplanes is probably highest). It ran fantastic for awhile then I was tweeking some settings, one of which was power saver. For 3 fucking weeks I could not, for the life of me, figure out why I could not maintain 60+ fps anymore. Is my PSU going? Did I unseat my GPU? Am I bottlenecked somewhere? Poor quality purchase? I happened on this thread and then remembered I was playing with my settings awhile ago. I literally thought: "you have got to be fucking joking me". Thank you so much man, I cannot tell you the peace of mind you have brought me. LOL
