5850 or 5870

Okay so im planning to do a system upgrade and im wondering if i should get a 5850 or 5870 because i want a single graphics card that could last me a long time and i also want an upgrade because i am a big crysis fan who wants dx11 when he plays crysis 2 it 😛. Also i have a 600$ budget so recommend me some other components as well

I was thinking of getting either a 750HX, Deathadder and lycosa, or the MSI 790FX with DDR3 ram with the 5850 or 5870

I'd recommend selling your current rig (keep the monitor and peripherals though). Then putting the $500 or more you get on it towards your fund. Then get:
Phenom II 955 BE
radeon 5870
DDR3 board asus or Gigabyte
4GB DDR3 ram
600W psu OCZ modxtream
same case

On the other hand you could purchase the following to upgrade your current rig:
Phenom II 955
radeon 5870

it falls within budget BUT if you don't have 4GB of DDR2 ram (you didn't say) upgrade it to 4.

If you want a quick cheap upgrade buy a second 4870 for about $150-170 and crossfire to get about 5850 performance. or get a single 5850 for about $300 and enjoy the same performance with DX11 and less power consumption.

Also, how long is "a long time"?

a long time to me is about 2 - 3 years and my current mobo is x8 CFX which is crap and i wont be able to do any crossfiring. I have 4 gigs of ram and what about a new mobo for future CFX?

8x crossfire is good actually. if you still want a new motherboard for crossfire the only thing better is 16x for around $300.
yep 3 years is reasonable for a phenom II 955 and 5870.
