Looking at the r9 270 maybe not sure of its compatible with my mobo or if it's worth the bang for my buck, I'm looking to play ark evolved with some friends.

if you could get a 970 over a 380 it is a lot faster i think if i recall correctly about 40% faster than the 380
also the psu i would get is a good gold certified corsair or evga psu or if you can afford a 100$ psu get a 45$ evga bronze 700w psu

psus most certainly wear out. after 5 years of heavy use many can't produce 1/2 of their advertised power; as they wear out they near failure, and failure of a psu can endanger your whole system.

take this opportunity to replace the psu.

Hi, I have a similar setup from early 2010. 1st of all your psu has a 7 year guarantee (if its a good corsair). I am not sure why replacing it is so urgent since everything is working properly. As I read someplace, if it's a good psu, it will fall "gracefully" without endangering the other parts.
2nd, your cpu can be easily overclocked @ 3,6 or 3,8 or even 4 ghz with a proper cooler and it can handle any gpu without problems/bottlenecks.

Cheers
