[SOLVED] 5900x running at 4.7-4.9 Ghz idle (stock). I think this is good, but is it normal? It's running at 5% load with temps at 52 degrees.

it is as the title reads. I am running it a idle, sitting in chrome. I'm aware this is good, but won't it shorten the life of the cpu?

Thanks,

Solution
5% load on a 12-core, 24-thread CPU means that something single-threaded is loading your processor. Your processor is boosting as intended.

And no, it won't shorten the life of your CPU much, when gaming would put much more load on your processor. Provided the cooling's good, it's rare for a processor to fail by itself during its useful lifespan.

Find out what it is in task manager, if needed.
