I have a 5930k, Asus Sabertooth, and G.Skill 2800 mhz ram. I recently got a real good deal on a 2080 Super Hydro Copper. I play mostly FPS games on an Alienware 1080p 240hz monitor. I know the equipment is dated, but it still works really well. I have the CPU overclocked to 4.5ghz @ 1.32v. The ram runs at 2800mhz. This is a custom loop machine. The usage for the CPU is around 25-30% while gaming. I was thinking that when I added the 2080S the CPU usage would go up and it would have to work to run it. Why isn't my CPU usage alot higher? The CPU temp is 40-45C while gaming. The GPU usage is around 50%. I plan on upgrading soon, but is there any way to make it run harder for the time being?

A complete nuke and pave will ensure you are not fighting any residual old drivers and/or misconfigured games.

(I agree that the CPU usage at only 25-30% seems a bit low for 1080P gaming with a very good GPU, assuming you are not locked at any low Vsync/gsync ratings of 60 Hz, etc)...

Certainly the 5930K at 4.5 GHz should roughly match a 7700K at similar clock speeds, but , certainly the older 5930K will not be able to saturate/max out a 2080S at 1080P, so, you might as well play at higher res/higher details, shifting some of the load to the 2080 Super.

Ok. I install a fresh win10 Pro every year. I was looking to buy a new CPU anyways. The 5930k has ran like a watch since 2015. It has been overclocked since I built it, so I was going to run it for a bit longer. I checked on vsync/gsync and they were disabled. I agree with you, I don't think it has the muscle to run it at 100%. I was looking/waiting on Alderlake 12600k, but I decided to give AMD a chance. I have always ran Intel. I picked up a 5600x a little bit ago. Now I got to decide on which Asus x570 to get. Thanks for you reply. I appreciate it.
