I am going to upgrade my computer and want to use the 5930k I7 to push two 980 ti's. I already own the 980 ti's. I was wondering what the best mobo and ram would be so I could get the most out of the gpu's. I have a full atx tower. I would like to use the same tower if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

might i ask if you have any other reasons to go for teh 5930k other than just "to push 2 980ti" ?
since if you dont do any workloads that benefit from teh 5930, you are paying top price for a CPU you dont use, and you could have saved money going for another platform that could easily handle 2x 980tis or even the new gen GPU's

for instance, if your stance is purely/mainly gaming, 5930k is pretty pointless tbh, its a CPU aimed at enthusiast and professional workloads., and if not used such, it would be a shame to waste 2x the money that could then have been spend on other hardware that would then perform better for teh task at hand

I am going to overclock the CPU and I was considering the Asus Sabertooth X99 motherboard. I am going to use it to specifically push two 980 ti's. I am not going to do any work with it. It is strictly for gaming. I was under the impression that the X99 platform would be relevant and the way to go for a while yet. I upgrade every 3 or 4 years and I want a platform that I will be able to push 1080's in a year or so.

z170 is more than enough/capable for that, and will even save you some money to boot
there are even 16x16 sli boards on z170 (expencive tho), not that you would need it/notice any difference on 8x8
z170 will do better in games with pure higher clocks, very very few games use enough cores for x99 to outperform it, and getting an i7 on z170 would then pretty much solve that issue anyway

there is almost 0 difference in game performance on 16x16 sli vs 8x8, and z170 will easily handle sli 980ti's even on 8x8

its a gud choice...go for it all guns blazing...

I think you'd be happy with it, good mobo 😉
