5A Internal CPU error, Asus P9X79 ws, intel 3930k

Hi guys,

I've just built my first pc and everything works fine. Exept I found that while booting I am receiving A5 error.
I have this error for a second and then pc starts normally.
I have already updated my bios to the latest version!

What can cause it?
How to fix it?

My setup:
Asus P9X79 ws
16Gb Ram GSkill
Intel i7 3930k

All board drivers installed? Boot order set correct to OS drive? No devices in device manager with exclamation marks?

I didnt instal OS yet. Boot order is correct.

Install OS and see if that fixes it. And of course drivers as well.

I tried to unplug everithing step by step to find what is wrong. SSD, HDD, Graphics card, without all these I still getting 5A for second or two.

I am going to install Ubuntu.

You may just be seeing the bios run tests on post(power-on-self-test)

If you do not get stuck on that error code, I think you are fine. If you had a cpu error, I think it would stop the tests.

My board runs past several codes before getting to the all good code(34 for my board and [strike]AA[/strike]FF for my old one).

Yes it goes through many codes, one of them is 5A, and then starts normally.
I was just thinking, is it ok?

Should be.

I will boot mine and see how many codes it passes.

But I think the codes are what tests it is doing, so if it stops at one you can say, yeah, its memory(or what ever code it stops on).

EDIT,

Just check one of my systems. went past at LEAST 10 codes then settled on FF(always thought it was AA) then boots.

edited above, at least 10 codes over the time it takes to post and test everything

I am sure all boards are a bit different, but they do not let you boot on an error with the cpu.

I have a different board, so I do not have the same numbers as you.

I have an Asus board I can watch

1. Update your BIOS
2. Clear CMOS
3. Load optimized or Default settings then boot
4. Start tweaking away!

I did not see 5A on my post, but I am almost sure you should be unable to post with a cpu error.

I do know that I see all kinds of other numbers.

If you are worried, I would contact Asus. Only they know for sure if it just flashing for a second is even an issue.

My gut tells me that if it boots, it should be good to go. I never even look at the post debug leds.

It could be as simple as no OS found. I am pretty sure you will be fine.

Stil have the problem! OS starts normally but I keep getting 5A for 2 seconds each boot.

Run some stress tests in the OS, if they pass, I think you are just seeing the message while it runs a test or something.

Again, for peace of mind, Asus may be able to tell you once and for all of that is normal.

All Errors I have ever come across have fully stopped the board dead in its tracks and not let if pass in that state.
