Hello, I am currently using a rt-ac66u router and it has dual band capabilities. I only learned what is 2.4ghz and 5ghz about a few minutes ago despite using this router for almost 4 year now but here comes the problem, I have never seen a 5ghz wifi connection for my wifi ever and i do not know how to configure or start it up. There has always been only one connection to my wifi which i assume is 2.4ghz. My country does allow 5ghz as i've been to my friend's houses who use the same isp and they have both dual bands up and running. How do i start or create the 5ghz connection? Does it have something to do with the ethernet cable attached to my router? I do not have the manual for the router anymore as I bought it years ago.

Solution
First you need to login to your router.

  • Open CMD on your computer
  • Type in "ipconfig"
  • Enter the Default Gateway IP from the CMD window into your browser
  • Once you are logged in head over to the wireless tab
There you will see your SSID's and passwords. Enable 5GHz and set an SSID and password for it.
