Has anyone had the issue with their router with the 5GHZ channel not showing as a list of networks? When I go to Asus settings I can see the name of the network there, but it doesn't appear under wireless connections. I'm running the latest Firmware Version:3.0.0.4.380_4180 . The 5GHZ connection has sort of been in and out for the past few months actually, but this is the first time where it has completely disappeared in the house.

I've been using default settings for router since I had it. I'm not advanced and definitely not taking advantage of what this router is capable of.

I need the 5GHZ up because the 2GHZ is capping my desktop at 40MBPS when it should be in the 80s. My laptops are all getting 80-90s but they have built in wifi. I'm using USB wifi for desktop.

Is there anything between your desktop and your router? 5GHz doesn't do as well penetrating walls as the 2.4GHz band does. You will find at distance and through barriers that the 2.4 band will provide a better signal, and can be seen further than the 5GHz band.

Thanks. That link gave me the perfect instructions and now I see 5GHZ.

Switch off the unit at the back, wait 10 seconds, depress reset button and then switch unit back on. Keep holding the reset button for 10-15 seconds. The Blue Power Light LED will blink slowly. Let go of the reset button and the Power light will continue to slowly blink. Let it blink for another 30 seconds before turning the unit off via the power button. Wait 10 seconds and then turn the unit back on. Wait for unit to restart and both 2G and 5G lights to illuminate.

>I've been having the same issue with the 5GHz network just disappearing. The simple solution that worked for me which did not require a hard reset or firmware downgrade was the following:>
>
Login to the Asus Router Admin Page
Click on "Wireless" on the menu on the left
Click on "Professional" tab
Select the "5GHz" band
Select "Enable Radio" = "No"
Click Apply
After it has been applied, go and select "Enable Radio" = "Yes"
Click Apply

>Basically your toggling the 5GHz radio on and off. It worked like a charm for me and the 5GHz network is showing up now!>
