[SOLVED] 5ghz unstable compared to 2.4ghz

My router has 2 different wifi access points. When I connect to my 2ghz I have a stable 7mb/s download speed. When I connect to my 5ghz wifi point, my download speed starts at 1mb/s for about 5 mins then jumps to about 14.5mb/s stable download speed. But then in games on the 5ghz connection, sometimes my connection completely cuts out for about 5 seconds, leaving me unable to react to enemies and such. After a few times it starts to get very annoying. I wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem, and how to fix it.

You will have to provide a lot more specifics. Router model, WIFI card or motherboard model, distance from the router, number of walls in the path...
5Ghz WIFI can have higher throughput but will not penetrate walls as well as 2.4Ghz.
Do other devices (phones or computers) exhibit similar behavior?
