Hello all. Just got the Dell 2 in 1 Precision 5530 laptop for work. I work in construction field. So right now I view my blueprints on a 4k 42" monitor. Sometimes I'm not able to clearly see all details on drawing when in full view(i have to zoom in a bit). I know 5k will help with the clarity. SO my question is.

1. When they come out( because I' only get when 5k monitor drop in price) would I be able to put 5k graphics card in my current laptop? Really don't want to buy new laptop as it was 3-4k.

Any tips for trying to get better clarity/resolution from my currrent setup? Have ACER 42" 4k monitor.

Thanks.

Depending on how your software scales. 8k might make the interface unuseable due to scaling issues.
Your card can support higher resolutions as long as the display will use multiplae display input (2x displayport to create 1 image like done on early 4k screens) Otherwise you'll need a new card and since this is a laptop that will be an issue as it caps out at 4096*2160 atm.

I think your issue currently is the size of the monitor. Is the text too blurry to read? If so then it's just an issue with pixel density and a smaller 4k display should fix that issue.

A smaller display causes a problem as I really have to zoom in to see drawing info clearly. I need the bigger monitor. They are coming out with 8k tv's anyday now. I may use one of those although it may be no improvement as I only have 4k graphics card.

Most laptops aren't upgradeable, at least when it comes to CPU/GPU. And even if you are able to remove the old GPU, finding a new compatible one might be an issue.

Basically, I wouldn't count on it.
