I must say I'm quite confused regarding some of the conclusions you draw in the 5MP camera test. I'm a happy D7 owner and there are two things that just cannot be correct in your article.
First and foremost: Power consumpion. I can't possibly imagine how you manage to drain your batteries in such a short time? I use two sets of Sanyo 1600 mAh's and they always last a day of shooting (250+ RAW shots). So your critical comment on batterylife must be based on either errant charging, crappy batteries (no matter what mA they claim) or maybe even a problem with the camera (battery connectors?)
Secondly, the write times you post are way too high. I use a 1GB microdrive and I get 11 sec / 16 sec for RAW / TIF. I know there are CF cards that are faster then the MD out there. What were you trying to write to? My guess is that you used a older version of the Sandisk CF, well know to be notoriously slow..... I hope the numbers for all the other cameras are not too much off because of this.
