5ms (60hz) gaming

Is a 5ms response time fast enough for casual gaming?
I'm thinking of getting this monitor:

Mine are. 1080, 60Hz, 5ms. It works for me, it works for most.

Perfectly fine, '1ms' response time monitors use inflated statistics, they're generally closer to 4-5ms anyway.
Most '5ms' IPS monitors remain in the 5-6ms range given they're of a decent quality.
Having used both you can't tell a difference at all.

Most also go with GtG time instead of the more accurate BtW. (Gray, Black, White.) GtG will be a shorter time than BtW. For the most part as long as you don't have a monitor that is 8ms or higher you'll be fine. I remember using LCD monitors when they first came out and you had anywhere from 16ms for the really good ones to 24+ms for the worse ones. Scrolling down a webpage would give me a headache from all the ghosting. My 5ms monitor is fine.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. Do you think that a GTX 1070 8GB will be enough to handle steady 1440p on say maybe high settings? Also, is it possible to turn the resolution down from 1440p to 1080p on a monitor? Sorry if these are all noob questions.

I would not turn a 1440 monitor down to 1080. I would kill details before I change the resolution.
