I am working on building a computer with a AMD R9 290 graphics card. It requires a 8 pin and 6 pin pci-e power connectors.

My power supply (rosewill capstone 750w) has two lines coming out of it with pci-e connectors on it. Each line has two connectors, a 6 pin and a 6+2 pin connector.

Is it safe to plug in the 6 and 6+2 pin connectors from the same line into the graphics card, or would it be better to plug in the 6+2 pin connector from one line and the 6 pin connector from the other line?

My guess is it doesn't matter, but its been 7 years since I have done a build so these connectors are rather new to me and would rather be safe than sorry.

Thanks!

It shouldn't matter. The PSU should be able to supply the full rated power to all connectors. In practice, however, using separate connectors effectively lowers the resistance in the cables and will result in less power loss and less heat generation. That should not matter, but it could make a difference.
