Hi guys, I am assembling a 6 GPU mining rig with the below specs. The system works perfectly when only 3 GPUs are installed. GPUs are working fine and shown in the Device Manager.
When I install the 4th GPU and connect it with the power supply, the other 3 GPUs work for a few seconds then “Fan Stop” light goes on and the fans stop spinning. The 4th GPU does not appear in Device Manager and it powers up only for a few seconds and dim out completely with no fans spinning although its 100% connected to the PCI express in the MB through a riser (like the other 3 GPUs).
I have tried to connect a different GPU (same brand), use different PSU cables (VGA CABLES), different risers, different USB cables, different slots in MB. Nothing worked. The 2nd PSU worked on powering other GPUs with no issues if it works as primary PSU. This means that both PSUs are working fine.
Risers are connected / powered with SATA cables to the MB (1st PSU is powering the MB, 3 GPUs, 3 Risers, HD, Processor and 6 Cooling Fans). 2nd PSU suppose to power-up 3 GPUs and 3 risers.
The 1st PSU is connected with the processor and MB and the 2nd PSU is powering up via a jumper (when powering the 1st PSU, the 2nd one starts automatically). There is no connection between the 2 PSUs.
I am using 2 VGA cables (2+6 pin) to power each GPU.
I think I am missing something on PSUs connections. Is there anything else needs to be connected between the 2 PSUs and MB? Or its totally something else I am missing here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Specs:
ASUS PRIME Z270-A MB
2 X EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G2 80+ GOLD, 1000W
6 X PCI Express 16 pin VER.009C
6 GPUs (GTX 1080Ti AORUS EXTREME Edition 11GB Graphic Cards)
Kingston HyperX FURY Black 8GB Kit (2x4GB) 2133MHz DDR4
Intel BX80677G3930 7th Gen Celeron Desktop Processors
SanDisk SSD PLUS 120GB Solid State Drive
I didn't mention that I have updated and configured the MB for mining. I have followed all the steps required for best ASUS Z270-A bios configuration for 6 GPUs mining.
