6 Monitor Setup, 5 Turn On

It's a very rare case, but when I turn on my computer for my 6 monitor setup, one monitor fails to get a signal. I have 4 connected via DVI and 2 connected via DP. Have 2 Asus HD7770-2GD5 video cards that run 3 monitors.

In the past, I'd just switch the ports that some monitors were on and that'd do the trick, but not this time.

When the vid cards are outputting to more than 2 monitors, a DisplayPort must be used for the 3rd output. Tried HDMI in the beginning and didn't get any signal for 2 monitors out of the 6 monitor setup.

ooh, right, the older cards were like that. so you're using DVI+DVI+DP on each card. hmm... have you tried rolling the drivers back a bit? last AMD cards I used were 7790s which only needed DP for the 4th output, and now I'm with nVid just to avoid DP altogether.

Havent tried rolling back the drivers, but can. How would I go about that?

Also, this has only happened maybe 3 times since June 2013 when this computer went operational. Most of the time I'd just unplug and switch one of the monitors hooked up to the DP, and usually that'd fix the issue. I'm guessing that trick may not work anymore.

Regarding nVidia cards, If I would have known that I would have purchased those right off the bat! DOH!!!!

not sure if you'd go into Catalyst to try rolling back drivers, or just use a system restore point. but if it's been since june, I'd avoid restore points since it would "undo" too much stuff.

silly question, but - what processor / mobo do you have? maybe as a "patch" you can just run 2 monitors from onbaord, and 2 per graphics card.

Mobo is Asusu M5A99X EVO R2.0
Processor is AMD FX-8320 8 core
Mobo has only usb outputs.

Also drivers were original from installation, so I could check for any updates.
