While yes it will work, my problem with this is if your PSU only has a 6 pin connector, it wasn't designed to put out the power that GPU needs. Very likely while it says its "600 watts" its not, and is likely very low quality.

You should consider purchasing a better quality PSU from Seasonic, Superflower, Antec, FSP, in your area.

As for what could happen, the PSU could fail completely (damaging your equipment) at a minimum it could underpower the GPU causing performance issues.

No the CX600 is known for issues with GPU's when pushed, however if you want to go corsair they just came out with new CX M PSU's which are FAR FAR better quality. On that amazon page select Modular, and then pick the 550watt or 650watt model, those are the new models. DO NOT buy any of the others, they are still the old low quality model.
