Hi I have an rx580 and my power supply has and 8 pin but it won't fit in the rx580 8pin since there are different shaped pins. Can I just leave it at 6 pins instead of 8 pins?

Agree. You should be looking for an 6+2 pin connector such as this one:

What you might be looking at from your description is a 4+4 pin CPU plug

Would be good to have the PSU model or pictures as stated before.

thanks for the response.

I have a 450w bronze evga power supply. The 6 matches but the 2 does not.

They don't match View: https://imgur.com/gallery/9y8nq6o

I have an engagement 450 bronze
That pic is the correct 6+2 pin connector but the 2 pin is turned the wrong way around(180°). There is only 1 that won't match but its not a problem as the rounded connector fits in the square hole. However 450w is on the small side for a RX580.

Yeah, but even if twisted correctly, they can be a pain to fiddle around with and get into th plug.

Figured it just by accident as I saw the second image of the plug on imgur.
