Hi everyone!

I just got my hands on a GTX 1070 and i was about to plug it in, but i quickly realised i only had two 6pin PCIe conectors...

Should i get a 6 pin to 8 pin adapter? And if i do how will it still work as intended?
Dont have the money for a new PSU right now...

Its a 500w psu

My last gpu was a g1 gaming gtx 960 3x and required two 6 pins

Molex or Sata to pci express are absolutely out.

Your 1070 has only the single 8 pin connector? Three 12V and 5 grounds, the two extra grounds on the side tell it to draw 150W from the 8 pin. 6 pin have 3 12V and 3 grounds and supply 75W. In this instance only, taking the dual 6 pin from your supply to a single 8 pin card is ok with the adapter below

I would love to use that but no swedish store has them available 🙁

i would save up and get one.. would rather do that than risking using an adapter and having it cause a hardware issue....

Many of the graphic card manufacturers include a dual PCIE 6 pin to PCIE 8 pin adapter with the GTX 1070 cards. That suggests to me that is what they are recommending for your situation.

What is the *exact* PSU? There are older PSUs I'd be willing to use a two six-pin to an eight-pin adapter, but I would never advise this without the relevant information. The "hey, just go ahead it isn't the box," advice is from someone with no skin in the game; they're not the one paying if you fry something or a fire starts at the weak point.
