Hey I recently bought a GPU that requires a single 8 pin power connector but my Psu is a little old and has only a 6 pin connector,so I bought a 6 pin to 2x 6+2 pin adapter (the only thing I found locally) and was wondering if leaving one of the 6+2 pins to hang without connecting it to anything will cause any problems or I will need to buy a 6 pin to single 6+2 adapter.

Solution
This one?
It has less than 380W on 12V rail. RX 580 requires 500W PSU.
Don't use this low quality PSU with RX 580 or risk blowing up your pc.

Its fine for 1 to be not connected, however if your PSU doesnt supply enough connectors or the right connectors its highly likely to be unsuitable.

I would recommend buying a decent PSU - too many people cheap out on the psu and are then surprised when their parts get fried.

What is make/model name of your GPU and make/model name of PSU ?
Running high performance GPU with unsuitable PSU may damage your system.
