Hi!

I know there is a lot of threads about similar problems but not precisely as mine.

I have Corsair vx550 PSU and want to buy a GTX 980. The problem is that it requires 2 8 pins PCI-E

My PSU has one 6 pins PCI-E and one 6 + 2 pins PCI-E. Would it work if i use an 6 to 8 pins adapter?

Best regards

The additional pins supply additional current to the card. Would it work? Maybe. But it might also melt the connector due to too much current going through it. So it's not really a good idea.
