6-way Crossfire on the horizon?

First let them work out the scaling/stuttering from 4 way crossfire. But still 6 way crossfire, holy .. even 6x 3870s could be ridiculously formidable.

ATI were making noises about some 'big crossfire improvements' coming in relation to the Lucid Hydra news a few months back. I wonder if they have made some kind of breakthrough they are holding back for the 890fx...which is clearly ready even though it's supposed to be out in Q2 2010.

Why not just 3x 3870X2's?

Speaking of Hydra, according to some new info I read, it only supports GT200 and ATI 4000 series GPU combinations between vendors, which is a bit of a letdown...Hope that turns out the be false, but I had a feeling something like that might happen...

well that might be with the current drivers they have. I'm sure they wouldn't actually release a product leaving out the latest and greatest from the guys in green and red
