60-75hz ultrawide or 144hz widescreen?

I'm planning on upgrading my monitor and my GPU is currently a GTX 1060 6gb and I've heard good things about ultrawides and I've heard good things about 144hz monitors but I doubt that my GPU will be able to get 144hz on an ultrawide given the higher overall resolution (and the price, geez they're expensive). I'm also considering G-Sync but once again that's kinda out of my budget.

what games do you play? For AAA games, 1060 can not do either...
If not GPU intensive games, for FPS games, still 144 Hz is better
Not all games support widescreen mode, check
For MMORPG, widescreen is much better
All depends on what games you want to play. For 1060, I will just get a 1080p 60 Hz monitor. 1070 is better match with the two screens you are considering if you will play AAA games.

The games I play most often (in no particular order) are Overwatch, TF2, Just Cause 3, Subnautica, L4D2, Fortnite, Borderlands 2 (I won't bother with this game because imo it's poorly optimized and I hardly get 60 fps as it is on high/med settings) and Rocket League.

But 144hz wouldn't make the gameplay or fps worse would it?, unless there is something major that I haven't been told about. I'm planning in the future to upgrade my gpu to a 1080 (possibly Ti), but as you probably know they are ridiculously expensive due to cryptocurrency mining.

For those FPS games, I will opt for 144 Hz monitor and you know 1080 is overkill for 1080p, right?
If you are talking about 1440p, 1060 will struggle in some games. I suggest you visit a local shop to try out widescreen and see if you like it. I will suggest upgrading monitor the same time you upgrade GPU :)

FYI, What FPS you are getting right now will be cut by 1/3 if you go to wide screen assuming GPU is the limiting factor.

I fear I may have presented this the wrong way, when I said widescreen, I meant 16:9 pixel ratio, and when I said ultrawide, I meant 21:9 pixel ratio. If you already knew that then just ignore it. I meant to say: should I get a (2560 x 1080p) 60-75hz ultrawide (21:9), or should I get a (1920 x 1080p)144hz widescreen (16:9)?
I agree, the 1080 gpu is pretty overkill for 1080p, I won't bother with 1440p monitors yet as I'd rather have good frame rate than higher resolution.
