Build Advice $600 PC build ?

I’m trying to build a PC for $600 without the monitor, keyboard or mouse. I don’t know anything about pc builds and I was wondering if there are builds I can do for about $600 roughly that makes a decent computer that can handle games as well as be a regular computer.

Hey there,

For that kinda money, you're talking entry level gaming. But, you'd be surprised what that will get you.

Something like this would be a good start, pretty strong for most things, and decent enough for gaming at lower res and settings. Will still do 1080p gaming for most games on low-mid settings, depending on the game:

I couldn't find a single mobo in the price range that has the bios required for the CPU. So you would have to factor in updating the bios on the board for the CPU to work. This can be done for a few dollars in a local repair store (they would simply put in an older CPU, update the bios, and then pop your CPU in and away you go!)

I think AMD might still even be doing the bios upgrade kit, which is another option.

With the build above, you could add in a discrete GPU down the line, when you have money for an instant upgrade in gaming prowess.

Just to give you the quick rundown, @keith12's build is much more powerful for handling everything non-gaming related, an can be easily made a very good gaming pc by adding in a graphics card later when they become reasonable or if you are able to score a great deal on an aftermarket card. @Vic 40's build is much better now for gaming but if you plan on upgrading later (within 1-2 years) its a bit of a bad value proposition, but all is not lost because the b560m motherboard is capable of putting several much more powerful CPUs although the VRMs on that board may be limiting to the most powerful options available to it, and obviously like the first build a better card can be swapped out but you are already 200+ dollars into what should by this time be a 100 dollar card which may resell later for that amount. In the end both are great builds but its up to you to decide what's more important to your use cases.

Since you are choosing an APU for the build if you were to budget another 40 on the RAM for 3600, 3800, or 4000 speed RAM would significantly improve gaming performance since the RAM is used as VRAM.

right I have all the parts for this build but some of the poorer supply cables don’t seem to be able to plug into the mother board and the dad used in this is something I’ve never seen. It’s small and I don’t know if it’s ment to fit into this motherboard. Any help is appreciated

i have it all ironed out now. It was a lot more issues and just wtf moments than I thought. Like the ssd had to go into the m2 port but the manual had the wording microscopic so I was bullshitting for an hour. They motherboard also didn’t ship with screws so I had to find random screws that fit

The short answer is no, there are no dedicated graphics cards that are available for good prices. The best you could hope for is to join the Newegg Shuffle which is basically a lottery. If you are lucky enough to get selected then you get the option to buy a GPU at a decent price. Did you end up getting an AMD APU (like the 5600g)?
