There is a computer me and my friend want to upgrade so that it can run (if possible) nicely upcoming game Star Wars: Battlefront. Minimum requirements are:
Processor (Intel): Intel i3 6300T or equivalent
Memory: 8GB RAM
Graphics card (NVIDIA): nVidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB
Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB
Budget: As for budget we have 2500 zł or ~670$, but since prices of pc components are a bit higher here than in US, I will put relevant price tags after conversion on parts that I think might be worth buying.
Approximate Purchase Date: 2-3 weeks.
So the current relevant parts are these:
Motherboard: MSI H55M-P31
CPU: Intel i5-760 Processor 2.80 GHz
GPU: Nvidia GTX 430
RAM: Elixir DDR3 4GB 1333 MHz
PSU: A noname 500W psu
Since it seems that sw battlefront is much more dependent on gpu than cpu my idea is to
pririotize upgrading GPU. My choice would be GTX 970 which costs here ~400$.
Then we should upgrade motherboard since MSI H55M-P31 supports only up to directx 10.
Unfortunately I don't know much about motherboards so no idea which one to choose, budget would be around 100$(400zł) I guess.
Next important thing is RAM. I think about buying one 8gb stick which costs here around 70$ to allow further upgrade to 16gb some time later.
Finally I wouldn't like to hazard newly bought parts with cheap unknown psu so my pick would something like Corsair cx builder series 500w for ~70$.
With this setup and leaving i5 760 for upgrade later I believe it could run sw battlefront well enough.
Or perhaps we should get cheaper gpu and get better cpu?
