Hi.
I am going to purchase an 2080 graphics card in a few weeks and am wondering if I need to upgrade my 600 watt power supply. I could look up the data myself but it's nice asking other gamers for opinions
Mobo: lga 1156 I7 4790 4 ghz
32 gb mem
Nvidia 1060 graphics
2-240 gb SSD's
1-2TB Sata
1PCI wireless card
1 Blu ray burner
Is 600 Watts enough?
Thanks in advance!

keep in mind they always over-estimate power needs to account for all the junk psu's sold. 85w processor and even a 300w gpu will run easily on 600w if it is a quality unit. is why we asked for the specific model 😀

Thank you for the fast reply. Sorry... I forgot to mention the blu ray burner.
I'm going to have to crack the case and look at the psu. It has the word "extreme" on it and it is approx 5 years old.
I will ge back to you.
Thanks.

Thanks for the fast reply. Sorry, I forgot to mention the Blu-ray burner. The PSU has the work "Extreme" on it but I'll have to open the case to get more info. The PSU is approx. 5 years old.

Replace it with a good quality unit, 650W.

Seasonic Focus Plus
Corsair RMX
EVGA G2

blue ray burner uses very little power so no biggie there. as for the "extreme" psu. it is more than likely a junk unit as none of the quality brands label their units that way. flashy titles and colors usually mean junk unit.

but do check the model number for us anyway so we can be sure before you go and spend money. but with such nice high end gpu like a 2080, a quality psu is a must and something your system deserves :)

The only way to find a solid answer is to find a review from a power supply enthusiast that has fully tested the unit. Not all power supplies have correct maximum power outputs. A PSU could be labeled to provide 400 watts, but in actuality can handle well over 550 without a hiccup.

Again, you won't get a clear answer from anyone here, you will have to find someone who has tested your specific unit. Good luck.

we may not perform actual reviews on the psu's but we are very knowledgeable in what the good and bad units are. we've read the reviews and know where to find them. this is the perfect place to ask since we have so many knowledgeable people who can help. saves a ton of research time to simply ask someone who has already done the reserach :)
