Hello tech fans

I just upgraded from an i3 3240 to an i7 4790k and I don't see a lot of difference in load times and such. My question is, is this due tot the old 8gb 600mhz ram I am using? Will it be worth it to upgrade to 1600mhz ?

Thx

I disagree with this, going from ddr3 1333mhz to ddr3 1600mhz will make zero noticeable difference.
Remember, when checking your ram speed with programs like cpuz you have to multiple by 2. So when you say ddr3 600Mhz. You probably see 677Mhz right?

Don't waste the money, ram speed is not a bottle neck.
I am also rendering a lot of videos in Sony Vegas so I'm guessing it will also shorten render times by a lot?

And no it's pure 600mhz ram. 2x4gb , it are different sticks so I'm not sure it supports dual channel. My motherboard does (gigabyte z97-x soc)

665mhz to be exact. Yes I have used CPU-z to check my specs. Those ram sticks look completely different. One is high and bluish and the second is green and as high as the ram slot. Will this also work in dual channel as 1333 like you say.

And to come back on the render times will that change with faster ram?

Rending is about how many cores and how fast they run. You wouldn't notice any difference by going from 1333mhz to 1600mhz.
