Hi all

Lately my neighborhood suffers from frequent power cuts.

To make sure my TV (Samsung KS8000) and computer don't damage permanently as a result, I am looking to purchase a 600VA UPS.

My computer however has a 750W power source and and not external screen.

My specs: 6700k, 16GB DDR 2666, 850 PRO SSD and a MSI GTX980TI 6G

Say my computer (incl screen) uses 800W in total, would the 600VA make sense?

Thanks a lot!

No it wouldn't it would shut off under a gaming load. Remember that your computer also doesn't always consume the max wattage, so idle it would be fine, but the moment you gave it anything hard to do the UPS would overdraw and shutdown. I would advise going for a 1000VA good quality one at minimum. 600VA is fine for a basic office computer (web browsing / word processing).

The Spec sheet on the UPS's will also list the max power draw in watts which is more important than the VA #
