I have almost finished a new build I am working on, I have a Corsair BS 600W psu running a Gigabyte z87 mobo, i5 4670k, stock cooler (for now) 2x4GB g.skill ripjaws kit, Corsair led case fans an 840 evo SSD and a Seagate 7200rpm hdd. I am looking to order a Sapphire toxic r9 280x 3gb. I have used the cooler master psu calculator which said a 495W min psu and another site saying 900W. There is no way i can make a judgement based on such contradicting results. I know the Sapphire site reccomends a 750W but that sounds like overkill as i have seen reviews of people running it OC just fine on a 650W.

So my question is a 600W handle it? Since it is a brand new psu that has surpased its return date so i need to know ASAP whether a new psu is order?

Thank you in advance!

600 watt is enough for your system just keep your oc to a moderate level its good to have some headroom....and r9 280x requires 30amps @12+volt rail and a minimum of 550 watt of psu so a good 80+ 600 watt psu should be fine if u don't or keep the oc to a basic level...
