60Hz for Gaming?

I am purchasing a monitor very soon and I would like to known if 60Hz monitors hurt your eyes like the rumors say. My build has a GTX 970 if that makes a difference because I heard fps in a game can dictate the refresh speed best suited for me. I mainly play games like BF4 and other graphically intense games like that.

The general consensus is that most gamers prefer the more fluid appearance of the faster 120 Hz refresh rate. The issue is that the rest of your system, specifically the graphics card, has to be able to run the games at 100+ FPS for the monitor to have the benefit, and for the user to see the difference. If your frame rates are 30-60 FPS, then it will not matter if your monitor can theoretically display at a faster rate.

A GTX 970 should get you those faster FPS, and therefore look for a 120 Hz monitor to get the full benefit.
