hello everyone,
i recently bought a new pc and i am about to upgrade my monitor as well. currently i have a 7 year old monitor which doesn't even support FHD, i am on a budget and i am undecided on which monitor i should get. i have a gtx 970 and most of the games i play are pretty demanding ones, so i don't think i'll get to 120-140 fps or anywhere near that. i can however, usually pass 60. good colors and image quality are important to me, and i don't really know much about monitors or how to calibrate them (willing to learn though). given that information, which gaming monitors would you suggest?
thanks in advance! :)

I've last week I found a decent deal on a BenQ 27" (2560x1440) for $350. In fact, both Best Buy and Amazon had them for that price... so I went ahead and ordered one. It's ok... not a vibrant as the 32" Samsung TV I was using but it's still not bad... It was advertised as 75Hz, but after receiving it and plugging in a Displayport 1.2 cable the monitor is only 60hz.

Originally, I was going...

Before deciding... you should ask yourself if viewing angles and colors matter to you. Those "faster" monitors come at a price (at least the budget ones) in that the display will become washed out with viewing from the sides.

I would recommend a 60hz ips monitor if you care about colour and don't play games such as counter strike- competitive and not very demanding. It is also important to note how nice high refresh rate feels, just moving the mouse around the screen it noticeably different!

thank you both, any specific model recommendation? also, this screen is supposed to stay for quite a while (maybe even for the next pc), so if there are meaningful differences i can stretch the budget to 300$ or so. if i go for 60hz, should i spend that money on 1440p?
(and no, i don't really play competitive multiplayer, if there is a noticeable difference on how smooth other games are, that is important). also, colours are important, viewing angles too but not as much as the colours.

I actually thought about 24, at 27 the resolution becomes more of a factor, and a good 1440p 27" is probably a bit over my budget. Up until now i had a 22" monitor. Any specific model recommendations?

Originally, I was going to go for an LG 34" Super Widescreen Monitor (2560x1080) for $450 at Fry's... and Amazon had one for $415... but I chickened out and went with the normal aspect ratio.
