So i am going to buy an alienware 17 with the i7 7820HK and gtx 1080.
While i were customizing the laptop i got the options;

17.3-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) with 120 Hz

17.3-inch UHD (3840 x 2160) with 60Hz

My main use for the laptop is gaming high demanding games, so what should i choose?

Solution
1. 17.3-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) with 120 Hz

2. 17.3-inch UHD (3840 x 2160) with 60Hz

17.3-inch is your laptop's screen size. 2560x1440 is your screen resolution. 120Hz is your screen refresh rate.

The resolution and refresh-rate matters. 2560x1440p (2K) is lower resolution than 4k UHD (3840x2160) but it has a higher refresh-rate than UHD Mode's 60Hz.

In simple words, Mode no. 1 will give you lower resolution than 4k, you will be gaming on 2k if you choose it. but it will give you more refresh rate than mode no. 2. So you'll have more frames to see. for example if your laptop is running a game at more than 60 FPS then you will be able to see those extra FPS because your screen will be refreshed 144 times per-second. This mode will...

This mode will provide you better FPS with low-resolution.

Mode no. 2 will run games on 4k, but it will limit FPS on only 60 FPS. you'll have higher resolution but low framerates than mode no. 1 but you will game on 4k with 60 FPS.

I recommend you to choose mode 2, because it will allow you to Play on pretty respectable frame-rates on amazing 4k resolution. On the other side, mode 1 will provide you better frame-rates while gaming on low resolution.

Thanks for reading my answer, hope it helps (sorry for my bad english)
