Currently my build is as follows, asaus sabertooth z87, i7 4770, 2x4gb gskill, 1x 120gb Samsung evo 850, I have no extra fans running and my PSU is a Antec high current gamer 620w. I recently bought a powercolor 290 and I'm a bit worried about my PSU and Id rather not "be on the edge" what should I look into to give me some headroom oc wise? And if I were to leave my card at stock how close would I be?
 
Your Antec is a good quality PSU made by Seasonic. Leaving the CPU and GPU at stock you can continue using it with the 290. If you want more headroom to overclock, here's one made by Superflower, one of the best power supply companies around:
