$625 system builder marathon ... can't OC

I put together a pc with all the components in the $625 system builder marathon http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cpu-graphics-overclocking,2082.html, with the only difference being the motherboard

CPU Intel Pentium E5200 2.5 GHz
CPU Cooler Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P
RAM PNY XLR8 4GB (2 x 2 GB) DDR2-800 (PC2 6400)
Graphics Sapphire 100245L Radeon HD 4850 512 MB 160
Hard Drives Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500 GB 7200 RPM 32 MB
Sound Integrated HD Audio
Network Integrated Gigabit Networking
Case Antec Three Hundred
Power Antec NeoPower 650 650 W ATX12V
Optical LITE-ON 20X DVD±R SATA Model iHAS120-04


With default settings it runs fine. The cpu temperature is about 24. I tried to overclock like described in the article, but it goes back to default settings before booting.

Even the Quick Boost settings on Easytune6 have the same problem.

What should I do?

Why OC?
Well I see you have an Arctic Cooler, you've been ocing using the BIOS, right?
If not, fiddle around in it for a while, in the CPU section of the BIOS. (Not sure where/how, im more familiar with ASUS motherboards)

just messs around a little bit, just dont overdo it, thats how you learn imo

bad advice!.. research before you fidle with anything in your BIOS.. you can hurt or even brake your brand new system!.. read the core 2 duo OC guide in this forum.. i believe it's as a sticky thread..

You need to have at least basic understanding of what youre messing with, read some guides.

im sure if he knows about overclocking and what a BIOS even is unlike 90% of population, he knows what NOT to mess with.
