I want to upgrade the RAM on my HP 15-dy4013dx Laptop
I ran this prompt in command: wmic memphysical get MaxCapacity
And it says the total system capacity is 32GB.
However, I looked up how much the processor supports and it says 64GB:
Intel® Core™ i5-1155G7 Processor
Crucial also says my laptop can support up to 64GB:
HP HP 15-dy4013dx | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial.com
Because the price difference is a lot, I would appreciate some guidance on whether to go for the 64 or 32GB. I'm an engineering student and I've had trouble with my PC freezing or crashing when I have too many applications open. I also read that updating the BIOS to the latest version could make the 64GB compatible, please let me know. Thank you
Edit: I ordered the 64GB. Before inserting it I made sure to update the BIOS to the latest version. When I tried to boot up the laptop, the screen would not turn on at all. I could tell the laptop was on because of the noise of the fan but the screen remained off. Any tips on getting this RAM to work? If not, I'll return it and just order the 32GB kit.
This was the RAM I bought:

Edit 2: I emailed Crucial support and they asked me to test each RAM stick individually on both slots. At first one of the RAM sticks was only working on one slot, and the other one worked on both slots. I then tried the first stick again and it eventually did work on both slots. Then, I inserted both of them and my laptop actually booted up this time! Not sure why it didn't boot up the other day but everything seems to be working well so far.
Thank you everyone for your help and your comments!
