Question 6400Mhz RAM works at 4800 ?

I bought 6400mhz cl 32 (2x16) because my ASRock A620M-HDV/M.2 motherboard supported it,
but on xmp profiles I have 3 - 6400 cl 32 6200 cl 34 and 6000 cl 30, none of them works and I’m not expert to do manual. The kits are Viper Venom.

Questions

Q1: Should I return the kits and get qvl kits ?

Q2: Should I get officially supported 5200Mhz RAM or there is chance to fix it manually?
Q3: if I upgrade cpu can I use my current ram at 6400mhz?

Your cpu is recommended to use 5200mhz ram is guaranteed stable. Going 6000mhz and above is not recommended and may cause instability due to voltages.

Sorry I meant going over 6000mhz. You bought 64000 ram, that is probably why your cpu, system is not functioning correctly. You can try a 6000mhz ram and be ok.

Every CPU and Motherboard combo is going to be a little different. Getting an A620 chipset wasn't wise as this is the very budget solution. If your memory isn't on the QVL or tested list, no guarantee it can achieve higher speeds.

You may need to tweak voltages a little higher to get the memory working at its rated speed.

6400 is a bit a of stretch at 1:1 for the memory controller. Not generally recommended for AMD builds. Decoupling the memory clock to 2:1 adds a lot of latency and can only be compensated for with speeds in excess of DDR 7200, which Ryzen doesn't play that well with to start.

Proper bios?

Yes, that is a good question, bios 1.21 is the only memory compatibility update out of all the bios updates. If you have a lower bios number than 1.21, you could try installing it to see if anything changes for the memory before you buy new qvl memory.

Thank you, ended up returning ram and motherboard for ASRock b650m pro rs and qvl supported ram

XMP is for Intel. You better get RAM with AMD EXPO profiles.

Can get XMP ram to work on AMD systems with AM5 socket, look here at support list for one of my boards with 8600G.
