Finally upgraded my computers cpu and some other aesthetic stuff and was wondering if 650 Watt is enough.

CPU : i7 6700k ( Haven't overclock yet)
Cpu Cooler : Noctua DH-15
Mobo: Asus z170 - AR
Gpu : GtX 970
Ram: DDR4 Corsair LPX Vengence 3000mhz Ram
PSU: Gold Evga G2 650 Watt
1 Asus 144hz Monitor / Asus 60 hz / and another Asus 60 hz monitor.

Was just wondering if sli 970s are gonna be enough with my psu. I know many of you guys are going to be like go and buy a 980 / 980ti but i was planning on buying one but I can't seem to sell my 970... so I'm just thinking of buying another sli and be good with that.

Solution
Stick those parts into a PC Part Picker list: www.pcpartpicker.co.uk It should give you an approximate (based off the official consumption, although this cannot always be correct) wattage of each component and the total.

It shows me 125-505 Watt. Is that safe enough 😱?

minecraft. jk Uh games like cs , league ,overwatch soon, division , and many other games and I'm fine with that. 6700k stock is plenty at 4ghz

I dont think its enough for 970 sli... we have to consider capacitor aging and all other factors... he should upgrade to a 750w to feel safe. two 970s at full load on a 650 is a massive gamble. Better to leave headroom than push the psu to a point where its lifespan will dramatically decrease.

I said the graphics card. You're good to go. If you are gonna OC get a Seasonic M12II-750w 😉

oh haha yeah I don't plan on overclocking the gpus.

and since you reply so damn fast. What would you do yourself? get that 2nd 970 or get a different card?

Sorry, was seeing other threads(slow net). The GTX 970 SLI has good value for money over a GTX 980. But a
GTX 980Ti...........
By the games you play you won't need it, basically extra vram etc.
If you face troubles like blue screens, crashing you will need another PSU. I don't know about Evga PSUs

How is it a massive gamble?

2x gtx 970 = 350w
i7 6700k = 91w

Rest of the components, less than 50w.

Thats still under 500w usage...

When it comes to PSUs, I tend to invest in something that is more than adequate for a PC that I'm building. Yes, 650w is good enough for the PC being discussed but traditionally, builders go with 750w minimum for high-end SLI setups if they want to upgrade to a more powerful card(s).

In saying that, I didn't take in the fact that the gtx 970 is very efficient and that he wouldn't overclock. Apologies for the mix-up :)

Even with overclocking its plenty enough.

Builders or the gpu makers will recommend more, because they have to account for lower quality psus. The Evga G2 is in fact a high quality unit and can delivery the power its rated for. Asking 500w of this unit would be no problem at all.

People were generally using 750w for SLI setups because previous generation nvidia cards were using a lot more power, the 970 is particularly power efficent, 170w for this level of performance is very good, previous generation cards you would be expecting 250w per card.

And with Pascal and Polaris around the corner, we could be experiencing exceptional efficiency in both AMD and Nvidia. (14nm/16nm)

Should be absolutely fine. But be careful, it is a slippery path you tread.
