Hey, Im looking to pair an i5 6500 with a Gigabyte Gaming 7 Mobo. I know intel patched the non-k overclocking hole the mobo manufacturers started to expose, but if I get a board made a few months ago (Before the patch was made) is the gaming 7 a board that has this feature anyways?

Solution
where i live the i5 6600k is $30 more than the i5 6600.
in anycase go to the link below and u will find the mobos that have the backdoor bios for non k overclocking.
common sense says dont buy the mobo with the least download. =) but they all should work. just read it before u make a decision

Really not worth it IMO. Some boards did have BCLK overclocking available but any board that did is probably patched from the factory and you would have to never update the firmware to maintain the OC. If you can step up to the i5-6600K it's the clear path forward for overclockers.

Hey, thanks for that. Also, I have the 6500, not the 6600. The 6600K is almost $100 more here.

did u just give urself a +1?

Sorry?
