Hello,
Is a Corsair cs650m (80plus gold) strong enough to power up a I5 4590 and a gtx970?
Are there psu's that are better (the price must be like the corsair) ?

Thanks!

Gold and Platinum along with other ratings don't say anything about the Quality of the PSU , it refers to efficiency and as Far as I'm concerned higher efficiency won't save you a lot in your power consumption that you would even notice it , it might save you a few euros per year which isn't a huge story so that's why I prioritized quality in here.

Here's Tomshardware PSU tier list , you can choose what suits you and your budget from Tier 1-2A and 2B : http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html

With all respect to your friend , it simply doesn't matter unless you're building a Server for a large company where power consumption really matters.
Wattage Wise it's enough however the CS series from Corsair aren't the best , their capacitors are made of cheap materials.

+1 for TopLuca's advice. Even if the price is a little more, it's more than worth headaches that can come up from using lower quality psu's. They power the entire system (all the high dollar parts like the cpu, gpu etc) so everything is dependent on it. It's the least amusing part of the pc (doesn't make games faster) but it's not the place to cut corners. A weak foundation makes for a potentially problematic pc.

A quality 550 Watt power supply will run those parts just fine, 650 Watts is also fine.
If you think you will be adding another 970 in the future for SLI then buy a quality 750 Watt now so you already have enough power.
And yes the CS series are rather low quality I would spend the extra 20 bucks or so and buy a quality power supply.

Thanks for your answer, but a friend of my said to go with a 80 plus Gold Certified.
So I don't know wich one I should choose now :??: (between 50-100euro)
