Hey guys! I'm going up to upgrade my rig in May and I'm wondering what I should purchase...

Right now I'm running a 560Ti and a 500GB HDD 3G/b Transfer rate.

Would it be better to spend about $300 on an 660ti and use the leftover $100 something dollars to buy an SSD? OR buy a more pricey $400 670, and keep my old HDD?

Right now I'm leaning towards a 660 Ti as I have a sneaking suspicion that nVidia is going to release their 700 series for desktops soon - but I'm concerned they'll release their high-end 780 and 770 cards for like $500, and I'll have to wait another year for a reasonably priced card...

Anyway - thoughts? Either way a 660 Ti or a 670 is a HUGE upgrade from my 560 Ti so I'll be happy either way :)

And finally, I'm not going AMD - bad experience, not a fan of their drivers.

well it all depends, are you satisfied with how fast everything loads? if you are then no need for ssd, all ssd does is make things load quicker. if you want to max out crysis 3 the a 4gb 670 should do well, i hear c3 on max settings gets very close or does use over 2gb vram, which would make a 2gb card struggle.

If you do happen to go for the 670 (which is what I would do), make sure you get your hand on a nice non-reference model, like Asus (DirectCU II), MSI (power edition) or Gigabyte (windforce).I am just trying to offer some advice so take it or leave it either way it's up to you.I mean do not get me wrong the GTX 660ti is a fantastic choice. If you want AA and other advanced features like Tessellation activated, then the GTX 660ti loses its value plus why get a weaker card. The usual rule of thumb is get the best GPU you can afford.Although a SSD would be nice as well you could always buy that later down the road so it's a tuff choice but get the 670.

been using (my first) ssd since... 2011 i think. so far so good, fast boot up, bf3 loads quickly. programs opens quickly. In short, things are snappy.

i have a 670, and im happy with it.

about your question, well, another option is get a 670 now and get ssd later. this way you can have you cake and eat it too (not sure if thats the correct one haha)

it will just delay the ssd for a while

Crysis 3 is exception in games ultra bad optimization and has no difference have you 660ti or 670

I also have a 670 and have been using SSDs for a while. Cons29's option is the best, but it involves re-installing windows when you do get the SSD.

If you're unwilling to do that, or don't want to put any more money into the rig, I'd say you should get the ssd. No, it doesn't help your gaming performance... but it makes every single other moment you're using the computer more satisfactory. To me that's by FAR worth turning details down a little if you're going to also use the computer for homework or work at home.
